Earl Robert (Bob) French Jr., 73, of Charlotte, N.C., passed away on March 26 after a long, tedious journey with Multiple Myeloma. He was born in Quincy, Massachusetts to the late Earl Robert French Sr. and Gertrude French (nee Stewart).
Bob grew up in Duxbury, MA. He moved south to attend The Citadel in Charleston, SC, graduating in 1968. He served in the United States Army, spending time in Vietnam where he was awarded a Bronze Star and the Joint Service Commendation Medal. After serving in the military, he resided in Charlotte, NC for over 50 years.Bob French 2
He was a devoted father to his three children. He was an avid reader and a lover of sports, but passionate about the Boston Red Sox, Boston Celtics, and New England Patriots. His love of animals was extreme. His home was always a safe haven to the neighborhood strays. He loved good food, good bourbon, and good company.
He is survived by his twin sister, Carole Dorion of Plymouth, MA; his children, Julie French Norton and her husband, Brian, of Monroe, NC, Mandy French and her husband, Matt, of Charlotte, and Bobby French and his wife, Carey, of Charlotte. He also leaves behind 5 grandchildren of whom he was incredibly proud: Jacob and Patrick Norton, Molly and Anna French, and Madelyn French.
Funeral arrangements are incomplete and will be announced at a later date. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Charlotte Humane Society or Hospice and Palliative Care Charlotte Region.
