Drew Robert Hudel, 56, of Lovettsville, VA went to be with the Lord on November 1, 2017. He was born on November 2, 1960 in Waco, Texas, son of the late Col. Perry Andrew Hudel (USAF) and Shirley Kenty Hudel of Summerville, SC. Drew was a 1978 Summerville, SC High School graduate, and a 1982 graduate of the Citadel, where he was an academic officer in Kilo Company, was in the honor corp, played rugby, and obtained a B.S. degree in Civil Engineering. He was commissioned into the Air Force upon graduation as a Second Lieutenant and served until 1986 at Reese Air Force Base in Lubbock, Texas with the rank of Captain. Drew was the principal of Paragon Engineering, Inc. from the year 2000 to the present with offices in Leesburg, VA and Hawthorne, NY.
His love of the Lord Jesus Christ, as well as his love of his family were his primary focuses. Drew was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, son, brother, and uncle. He loved the outdoors, sports, fast cars, his dogs, and studying the Bible. He will always be remembered for his honesty, integrity and optimism. Drew had the unique ability to inspire others and was a true leader in his professional and personal endeavors.
Drew is predeceased by his father, Col. Perry Andrew Hudel, and granddaughter, Austyn Elisabeth Adair.
He is survived by his loving wife of 20 years, Julie Stevens Hudel, of Lovettsville, VA, a daughter, Kathryn Lane Adair and her husband Bobby, of Brunswick, MD, a son, Benjamin Edward Thrailkill, IV and his wife Michelle, of Lovettsville, VA, his mother, Shirley Kenty Hudel of Summerville, SC, a sister, Carol Hudel Tidwell and her husband Doug, of Mt. Pleasant, SC, three grandchildren, Addison Taylor Adair and Abigail Morgan Adair of Brunswick, MD, and Brantley Michael Crawford of Lovettsville, VA.
A funeral service will be held at 12:00 pm on Wednesday, November 8, 2017 at Colonial Funeral Home in Leesburg, VA. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service from 11:00 am until time of the service at the funeral home. Burial will be at Union Cemetery in Leesburg, VA. Memorial contributions may be made to Samaritan’s Purse or Cornerstone Chapel in Leesburg, VA.
