Donald Orlean Rust, age 60, of Canton, Georgia, passed away on Thursday, August 30, 2018. Don was born on June 23, 1958 in St. Petersburg, Florida, to the late Gordon and Geraldine Rust. After moving to Georgia, Don attended Towers High School in Decatur. He was involved in many sports, which led him to be the state wrestling champion before graduating in 1977. He was awarded a football scholarship from The Citadel In Charleston, SC and graduated 1982. Don loved playing sports and watching baseball and football. In 1987, Don met, Donna McCook, through a mutual friend and later they were married. They shared almost 30 loving years together before his unexpected passing. He worked for Herman Miller for many years, then Chart Ind., before starting his own business, Oxi Fresh Carpet Cleaning in Fulton, Cobb and Cherokee Counties in Georgia. Don was a “Gentle Giant” loved family, friends, animals and bird watching. He had a light-hearted personality and was always joking with people to see them smile. Along with his parents, Don is preceded in death by his son, Ryan Keeton and sister, Diana Stevens. He is survived by his wife, Donna McCook Rust; daughter, Christi McCook; brothers, Gordon Rust Jr.& Jeff Rust; sister, Glenda (Ron) Yarbrough; grandchildren, Calen Babaz and Kierwyn Babaz; and many loving family members to cherish his memory. A memorial service to honor Don will be held on Monday, September 3rd, 2018 at eleven o’clock AM., at the 1st United Methodist Church, 930 Lower Scott Mill Rd, Canton, GA 30115, and Pastor Floyd Kenney will be officiating. Family will receive friends one hour prior to the service. Arrangements are being handled by Woodstock Funeral Home.
