David E. Vipperman III, ’62, received the Order of the Palmetto on August 28, 2025, honoring a lifetime of service to his community, state, and country. A former U.S. Air Force pilot and Vietnam veteran, he flew more than 100 combat missions over North Vietnam and was awarded the Distinguished Flying Cross.
