DUNN, Dr. David Earl Jr., born in Montgomery, Alabama in 1921 and died at his home on September 5, 2005. He was preceded in death by his mother Sallie Reese Dunn and father David Earl Dunn Sr. and his sisters Isabel Dunn Hill, Pattie Dunn Gayle, and Mary Susan Dunn. Dr. Dunn was educated at Barnes School, the Citadel and Emory University before graduating from the University Of Alabama School Of Medicine. He was a veteran of World War II where he received the Distinguished Flying Cross for his service. Dr. Dunn was a dedicated physician in Montgomery for over fifty years. He is survived by his wife of 62 years Elizabeth Lyerly Dunn and his children, Rebecca Anne Dunn, David Earl Dunn III, Robert Hardaway Wright Dunn, and John Wesley Reese Dunn, five grandchildren Wesley Dunn, William David Dunn, John Reese Dunn, David Edwin Dunn and David Bondurant Dunn. Funeral services will be held 11:00 a.m. Thursday from the Church of the Ascension with Rev. Mark Waldo officiating at the church and John Dudley Reece, cousin of the deceased at the committal service in Greenwood Cemetery. The family asks that contributions in Dr. Dunn’s name be made to the American Red Cross, for the benefit of the victims of Hurricane Katrina. Arrangements by White Chapel – Greenwood Funeral Home.
