Daniel Simonelli passed away peacefully on May 18,2024, in Denton Texas, surrounded by family. Born and raised in Norwich Ct, Dan was a graduate of Norwich Free Academy and the Citadel Military College. He proudly served in the Army and began his career as a teacher in Montville Ct, while also managing the family business, The Dandy Dairy Bar. In the early 70’s, his career path shifted to the emerging field of computer programming, and he ultimately worked as a system analyst at Northeast Utilities.
Dan is survived by his sister, Rita Rook, three sons-David, Mark, and Chris- and 5 grandchildren: McKenna, Michael, Jake, and Mia. One of Dan’s proudest moments was when handed his grandson, Jake Simonelli, his diploma from the Citadel.
In addition to his professional pursuits, Dan loved tennis and golf and in later life, decided tp learn to play the piano. He was an avid fan of the University of Connecticut Women’s Basketball team and spent hours watching their games while chatting with his cousins and lifelong friends Richard Santoro and Joe Quartella.
Dan’s final wish was for his ashes spread on the graves of his parents, Dante and Ida Simonelli, in Norwich Connecticut.
