HARRIS, DANIEL E., age 62, of Helena, AL, died May 21, 2004. He lived all his school years in Spartanburg, SC where he grew up in the Bethel Methodist Church. Dan was a 1964 Graduate of the Citadel and as a Captain in the U.S. Army completed most his tour of duty in Korea. He was an active member of Riverside Baptist Church of Jacksonville, FL and Riverside Baptist Church of Miami, and presently served at First Baptist Church of Helena. His combined areas of church service included being a Sunday school and R.A. Teacher, a deacon, choir member, soloist, a praise team member, and Dir. of Helena Men’s Ministry. He was employed for 27 1/2 years by Eastman Kodak as a salesman in the Business Imaging Division until he took early retirement in 1996. Dan then founded and was President of K. M. Imaging, was a Co-owner of Business Network International (BNI) of North Alabama including being Area Director of 5 local BNI Chapters. He was a Real Estate Investor and had been a member of Toast Masters. Dan was a loving and loved husband and father. He is survived by his wife of almost 30 years, Dorothy Baughn Harris; son, James Harris and his wife, Heather of California; two stepsons, Robert Yantiss and his wife, Mary of North Carolina and John Yantiss; two grandchildren of deceased son Glenn Harris, Amanda and Daniel Harris of Florida; a sister, Paula Youngs and husband Ray of Virginia; two nieces, two nephews, and a multitude of loving friends and co-workers. After visitation at the Southern Heritage Funeral Home a Memorial Service was conducted by Dr. J.D. Davis at First Baptist Church of Helena on June 1st and there was visitation at the Lanford-Dunbar Funeral Home in Spartanburg just prior to the Graveside Service in Green Lawn Cemetery conducted by Rev. David Smith, Pastor of Bethel Methodist Church on Friday, June 4th. In lieu of flowers, Mrs. Harris requested donations to be sent to the Jimmie Hale Mission, P 0 Box 10472, Birmingham, AL 35202 or First Baptist Church of Helena’s Building Fund, P O Box 284, Helena, AL 35080 in Dan’s memory.
