Clifford “Pete” Conway, of Lubbock, TX, passed away October 18, 2017. He was born August 23, 1937 to Clifford and Wilhelmina Warm Conway in Peekskill, New York. He graduated from the Citadel Military Academy of South Carolina in 1968 and flew for the US Navy (active reserves) for 11 years achieving the rank of Lieutenant Commander. He was instructor pilot two years, and stationed in Newfoundland, Corpus Christi, and England. He served as a pilot for the Commander in Chief, US Naval Forces, Europe from 1965-1968. During this time he flew throughout Europe. Following discharge from the US Navy he worked for Nalco Chemical Company. He moved to Lubbock in 1976 and worked for Hornet Gas Company and retired as Senior Transit Supervisor, Citibus after 24 years. He was the youngest of four children including sisters Christine Reese, Carroll Stephens and Irene Rothfuss, who all predeceased him. He is survived by his wife of 40 years, Anna, daughter Deborah Vogel of Elk River, Minnesota, son David Conway of Cypress, Texas, step-daughter Marjorie Green and husband Brian of Winona, Texas and step-son Andrew Schultz and wife Shanni of Lantana, Texas. He is also survived by six grandchildren, one great-granddaughter and many nieces and nephews. He wished his body donated to Texas Tech University. Memorial service will be held at a later date.
