Colonel Charles R. Piver, 67, of Jupiter, Florida passed on December 2, 2008 after a long battle with multiple myeloma. One of his most memorable traits was he continuously exhibited a positive attitude throughout his entire illness and he never allowed his illness to break his spirit. As a Colonel in the US Air Force, he proudly served as an Intelligence Officer, Security Police Unit Commander and Administrative Officer. He was awarded the Bronze Star and Legion of Merit. Colonel Piver was a graduate of the Citadel where he received a bachelor’s degree. He also attended the University of Northern Colorado where he received his master’s degree in psychology. He served as the District Inspector General for the Department of Health & Rehab Services. He volunteered in the Boy Scouts, Junior Achievement and served as a Board Member for the WPB Rotary Club. He was an avid fisherman, expert marksman and he enjoyed space covers, military police and RCMP collectables. He is survived by his wife, Helen Piver of Jupiter and his children Lori and Joel Rutsky, Susan Jenkins, Beth Piver Vick, Karen Goodman and grandchildren Jamie and Brady Goodman. He is also survived by his father-in-law, Morris Feinberg. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to Hospice of PBC and Multiple Myeloma Society.
