Charles Pinckney Moran, 94, of Greenville, SC, died peacefully at home on Wednesday, March 18, 2015.
He was born on February 1, 1921 in Greenville, South Carolina, at the family home on 318 Hampton Avenue to Hattie Simmons Moran and John Richard Moran.
He graduated from Riverside Military Academy and The Citadel. He was a Captain in the Air Corps, 34th Bombardment Squadron, during World War II, piloting a B-26 aircraft over Italy and Southern France. He successfully completed 63 bombing missions and was awarded 7 air medals and clusters.
He married the former Merle Koon of Leesville, South Carolina, and had four children and five grandchildren.
He retired a a Project Manager for Fluor Daniel and was a life long member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church and the Cotillon Club.
The graveside service with military honors will be held today, Saturday, March 21, 2015 at 12:00 pm at Springwood Cemetery in Greenville.
