ALBANY Charles Ellis Ragan Jr., 83, died Wednesday, February 25, 2004, at his residence. The funeral service will be 11 a.m. Saturday at St. Patricks Episcopal Church. The Dr. James R. Bullion and Rev. Pat Petes will officiate and interment will follow in Fairview Cemetery in Eufala, AL. A native of Gainesville, FL, Mr. Ragan a graduate of the Citadel served with the United States Army in the South Pacific as a Major during World War II. Upon returning to Albany, in 1946 he assumed ownership of Flint Beverage Company and served as President until his retirement in 1985. He was a charter member of St. Patricks Episcopal Church, a member of the Flint River Power Squadron, and the Georgia Beer Wholesalers Association. He loved to garden and was an avid collector and repairman of antique clocks and pocket watches. He was preceded in death by his parents, Charles and Mary Ragan and daughter, Mary Caroline Mici Ragan Ansell. Survivors include his wife of 62 years, Margie Sills Ragan of Albany, 2 sons; William S. Ragan and his wife Kay of Leesburg, Charles Ellis Sonny Ragan III of Los Alamos, NM, four grandchildren; Charles E. Ragan IV of Beavertown, OR, Deirdre Ragan Fillippa of Pittsburg, PA, William S. Ragan Jr. and Griffin A. Ragan of Leesburg. The family will receive friends today from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. at Kimbrell-Stern.
