Charles Anderson, Sr., entered into eternal rest on the evening of January 30, 2009, Charles Edgar Anderson, Sr., husband of Hazel McLendon Anderson. Residence, Troy, Alabama. The relatives and friends of Mr. and Mrs. Charles E. Anderson, Sr. are invited to attend his funeral service at the graveside in Live Oak Memorial Gardens Tuesday afternoon, February 3, 2009 at two-thirty o’clock with Military Honors. The family will receive friends at J. HENRY STUHR, INC., WEST ASHLEY CHAPEL (3360 Glenn McConnell Pkwy.) from one until two o’clock. Memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society, 5900 Core Road, Ste. 504, N. Charleston, SC 29406 and/or the American Diabetes Association, 2711 Middleburg Drive, Ste. 108B, Columbia, SC 29204. Mr. Anderson was born in Crooksville, Ohio, March 15, 1925, a son of Richard Anderson and Ola Angel Anderson. He was a veteran of World War II, United States Army Air Corps and served the latter portion of the war as a POW. Following military service, Mr. Anderson graduated from The Citadel, Class of 1951. Charles retired as the Regional Director with Interstate Commerce Service. In addition to his wife, Hazel Anderson of Troy, AL; surviving are his son, Charles Anderson, Jr. and his wife Donna of Lawrenceville, GA; a daughter-in-law, Donna Anderson of Loganville, GA; four grandchildren, Brook Bryant and her husband Dan, Blake Anderson, Zackery Anderson, Taylor Anderson; a great granddaughter, Anniston Bryant; brother, Richard E. Anderson of Ohio; sister, Doris Poole of Ohio; stepson, Julius Walters and his wife Rita of Troy, AL; and two step-grandchildren, Haley and Trey Walters both of Troy, AL.
