Charles D. Hoffecker, Jr., of Concord, NC passed away on December 20, 2017. He was born in Norfolk, Virginia on November 17, 1926, and was the son of the late Charles D. Hoffecker and Mary Simmonds Hoffecker. He graduated from Porter Military Academy, Charleston, SC in 1944 and the Citadel in 1951 after serving in the Merchant Marines and the US Army. He worked for Texaco and First Federal Savings and Loan in Tampa, FL and as a Zoning Administrator in Charleston, SC before retiring in 1986. He was married to Roberta Clayton of Dorchester, SC on August 18, 1948 at Bethel Methodist Church in Charleston, SC. After retiring, he and Roberta spent 30 summers at their summer home in Little Switzerland, NC. They were active members of Park Circle Presbyterian Church in North Charleston, and later became members of First Presbyterian Church in Spruce Pine, NC. Charles was preceded in death by his parents and sister, Elinor Steward. He is survived by his wife Roberta; his son, Charles D. Hoffecker III (Stephanie) of Concord; his grandchildren, Dr. Brett Hoffecker (Felishia) of Scott City, KS, and Christina Hoffecker of Hanahan, SC, Melanie Morton of Charlotte, Brittany Turner (Wes) of Charlotte, and Daniel Morton of Charlotte; and great-grandchildren, Timothy, and Jude. A Graveside Service will be held at later date at Riverview Cemetery in Charleston, SC. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Hospice of Cabarrus County (5003 Hospice Lane, Kannapolis, NC 28081). Carolina Cremation of Charlotte and Salisbury is serving the Hoffecker family.
