Channing “Chan” Snypp, age 82, passed away on July 9, 2025 at home in Alpharetta, GA, with family by his side. Chan was born in Charlotte, NC on September 5, 1942, and raised in Rock Hill, SC. He attended Winthrop Training School where he played both football and basketball in high school. Chan attended The Citadel Military College of South Carolina and graduated in 1964 with a B.S. in Business Administration. Chan was selected to the Summerall Guards, a precision drill platoon, for his senior year. After graduation he was employed with International Silver Company as a sales representative. One of his assignments was in Atlanta, GA, where he met Suzanne, his wife of 56 years. Except for a short assignment in New Orleans, LA, they spent their entire life together in the Atlanta area. Shannon, their daughter was born in Atlanta. While in New Orleans, Chan made the decision to start his own business as a manufacturer’s representative in contract furniture and returned to Atlanta. The business grew into a partnership of Snypp-Bowen, Inc. Chan retired early and enjoyed traveling with his daughter in her college search which was truly a special time for them. He also reconnected with his classmates at The Citadel and attended many reunions with the class of 1964. The family travelled extensively and were fortunate to visit many different countries. Chan was a devoted husband, father, and friend. He loved the outdoors and enjoyed golfing, salt water fishing, and hunting. He was truly a southern gentleman with a fun sense of humor and a great smile. He is survived by his wife, Suzanne; daughter, Shannon; brother and sister-in-law, J. Robert and Sara Snypp; sister-in-law, Joy Henderson; nieces and nephews, Tracey Friel, Renee Snypp, Sabra Snypp, Paige Rhodes, J. Robert Snypp lll, Bryant Henderson, and Wayne Henderson. He was preceded in death by his parents; parents-in-law; sister, Peggy Nottle; and brother-in-law, Walker Henderson. The family wishes to thank the many Citadel classmates, WTS classmates, friends and family who supported Chan in his battle with pancreatic cancer. He truly felt the kindness and love. He will be placed in the Columbarium at The Citadel and also ashes will be spread at Redfish Pass.
