Cecil Edward Jones Jr., 77, of Gainesville, GA, passed away on Thursday, Dec. 10, 2009, at Northeast Georgia Medical Center following a sudden illness. Funeral services are scheduled for 2 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 13, 2009, in the chapel at First United Methodist Church with interment to follow at Alta Vista Cemetery. The family will receive friends on Saturday, Dec. 12, 2009, from 7 to 9 p.m. at the funeral home. Mr. Jones was born Sept. 11, 1932, in Ashton, S.C., to the late Cecil Jones and Evelyn Hiers Jones. Mr. Jones graduated from The Citadel College in Charleston, S.C., in 1957, and also served in the U.S. Air Force. He was retired from McKibbon Brothers, where he was general manager of the Holiday Inn of Gainesville for 30 years. He was preceded in death by his parents; sister, Mary Nell Jones; and brother, Ray Jones. He was a loving husband, father and PaPa who was devoted to his family. He loved fishing and traveling, especially to Munich, Germany. Mr. Jones is survived by his wife of 52 years, Jackie Jones; daughter, Lola Jones of Gainesville; daughters and sons-in-law, Robin and David Cotton of Gainesville and Paige and Rod Knight of Gainesville; sons and daughters-in-law, Cecil Edward (Ed) and Joyce Jones of Gainesville, Christopher and Mary Frances Jones of Gainesville and Brooke and Amy Jones of Atlanta; Mr. Jones also has 12 grandchildren, Liz, Brinson, Jay, Alex, Kelly, Griffin, Whitley, Frannie, CeCe, Jettie, Creighton and Kinsey; he has one great-grandchild, Lola Cate; and he is also survived by several nieces and nephews. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Good News Clinic of Gainesville. Little & Davenport Funeral Home, 355 Dawsonville Highway, Gainesville, is in charge of arrangements. Tags: 1957
