Adkins was born in Jacksonville, Florida on August 12, 1974 to Willie H. and Louise Adkins. Calvin attended the schools in Jacksonville. He graduated from The Bolles School. Upon graduation, he attended The Citadel Military College of Charleston, South Carolina. He was a faithful member of First Chronicles Baptist Church until his departure. His work history began at Bono’s B-B-Q. Upon graduation from college, his career began at First Union (Wachovia) and later became employed by Bank of America. His next period of employment was with State Farm Insurance. After working there for several years, he became employed with Citizens Property Insurance Corporation. Calvin also did volunteer service at Lakeshore Elementary School where he read to students. He remembered his roots and came back to coach at Forestview Association where he started playing sports. Those left to cherish his memory are his loving mother, Louise S. Adkins and father, Willie H. Adkins; sister, ThaLisa Adkins; brother, Keith L. Adkins (Mary S. Adkins); aunts, Elizabeth Smith, Eartha Bailey (Richard), and Carolyn Tolbert; nieces, Jacobi, Amanda, Alexis, Nadia, and Savannah; granduncles, Wilmon Frasier (Hattie) of Hinesville, GA, Charlie Haynes (Janie), Matthew Stroman of Orangeburg, SC; grandaunts, Alice Ross (Levon) of Jacksonville, Florida, Ressie Mae George, Ottie Lee Barnard of Hinesville, GA, Gertrude Tyler of Orangeburg, SC, Ethel Parker of Queens, NY. A host of cousins and many devoted friends as well as a special friend, Reginald Ansley (Poppa Daddy).
