Arthur B. Moore, Jr., 84, husband of Catherine McDougal Moore, of Summerville, SC, died March 26, 2010, at Roper St. Francis hospital in Charleston. The Funeral Mass will be held Tuesday afternoon, March 30, 2010, at St. John the Beloved Catholic Church at 3:30 o’clock. The rite of committal will take place at Summerville Cemetery. Friends may call at PARKS FUNERAL HOME Monday evening from 6 until 8 o’clock where a vigil service will be held at 6 o’clock. Flowers will be accepted or memorials may be made to St. John the Beloved Catholic Church, 28 Sumter Ave., Summerville, SC 29483. Mr. Moore was born September 9, 1925, in Charleston, SC, a son of Arthur Bernard Moore and Helen Molony Moore. He served in the US Army during WWII and was awarded the Bronze Star. He graduated from the Citadel with a Bachelors degree and he received his Masters degree from USC. Mr. Moore retired after 37 years of service with Westvaco, Timberland Division, where he was Personnel Manager. He was a member of St. John the Beloved Catholic Church in Summerville. Survivors include his wife Catherine Moore of Summerville; one daughter, Helen E. “Betsy” Moore of Summerville; one son, Arthur Bernard Moore, III and his wife Celia of Greenville; three sisters, Margaret M. Shuman of Mt. Pleasant, Ann E. Moore of Charleston, and Jimmy M. Dovre and her husband Al of Mt. Pleasant; two granddaughters, Catherine S. Moore and Caroline J. Moore, both of Greenville.
