Alice Brandon, 79, of Louisville, Kentucky, passed away on Monday, April 11, 2022. Alice was born on September 20, 1942 in Louisville, Kentucky to the late Paul and Anna (Gagel) Baugh. She was preceded in death by her husband, H. Stafford Brandon, and siblings Ivan Baugh and Linda Cantrell. Alice was a graduate of Butler High School (1960) and was a cum laude graduate of Georgetown College (1964) where she was a member of Kappa Delta Sorority. Alice married Stafford Brandon in May of 1965 and enjoyed 46 years with him before his passing in 2011. The first few years of their marriage, the couple lived in Charleston, SC. While living in SC, Alice completed her masters studies and obtained her Master’s Degree from the Citadel Graduate College at the Citadel in Charleston, SC. Alice was a teacher, teaching in Charleston, South Carolina, for 5 years before she and Stafford moved back to Louisville. In Louisville, Alice taught at Pleasure Ridge Park, Eastern High School, Crosby Middle School, and Seneca High School. She also obtained her Rank 1 teaching certification for Kentucky educators. Following her retirement in 1998 from Seneca High School, she continued teaching in long-term sub assignments, often to help fund her next trip. Alice and her husband, Stafford, enjoyed traveling and she continued to do so after his passing. Until COVID restrictions hampered international travel, Alice’s passport book held a new stamp almost every year from her traveling adventures. Alice enjoyed traveling, playing bridge, singing in the Christ Church United Methodist choir, and participating in the many activities and mission work of her Pioneer Class at Christ Church. She was a member of the Kentucky and Jefferson County Retired Teachers Association, Christ Church United Methodist (Chancel Choir and the Pioneer Class), and Delta Kappa Gamma (Xi Chapter), a professional society for women educators. Her laugh and spunky attitude were treasured and will be greatly missed. Alice is survived by her son, Paul Stafford Alexander Brandon, daughter, Taiya Brandon Allen (Jeff), grandchildren Maddie, Zach, Luke and Eli. She is also survived by her sister Patsy Ensminger (Bill Craigmyle), brother Glenn Baugh (Gloria), beloved cousin Mary Mullaney, cousins George Gagel (Barbara), Edward Mullaney (Maren), Jim (Sharon) Baugh, and sister-in-law Jeanette Mollycheck. Visitation will be from 4:00 pm to 8:00 pm on Friday, April 29, 2022 at Newcomer Cremation, Funerals & Receptions (235 Juneau Drive Louisville, KY 40243). A memorial service will be at 1:00 pm on Saturday, April 30, 2022 at Christ Church United Methodist (4614 Brownsboro Road, Louisville, KY 40207). The family requests no flowers, but that contributions in Alice’s memory be made to The Music Ministry at Christ Church United Methodist and/or Alley Cat Advocates (3524 Newburg Rd, Louisville, KY 40218).
