Albert C. “Bubba” Morsch, Jr., 83, of Palatka, Fla., passed away Monday, Aug. 24, 2015, at his home following an extended illness. Albert was born and raised in Jacksonville and following graduation from high school, attended the Citadel in South Carolina, where he graduated in 1954 with his BS degree in Physical Education. He served in the U.S. Air Force. For several years, “Bubba” taught and coached in the Jacksonville area. Following that, Bubba joined his parents in the family business, Bert Morsch Lumber Co. (est. 1947) and eventually assumed operation of the business, where he expanded the scope of the business and formed Morsch Marine Construction Supply. Bubba was an avid golfer, fisherman, tennis player and was an aerobatic pilot. He was also a member of Crescent Beach Baptist Church. Bubba lived in Putnam County since 2004, moving there from St. Augustine, where he lived for 35 years.
He is survived by his wife and companion of 39 years, Deloris “D.J.” Morsch; three sons, Kirk Morsch of Jacksonville, Steve Morsch and wife, Jan, and Scott Morsch and wife, Laura, all of St. Johns; a daughter, Karen Morsch of Jacksonville; and numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Graveside services will be at 10 a.m. Thursday, Aug. 27, 2015, at Oak Hill Cemetery with Pastor Rod Pinckney and Don Capo officiating. The U.S. Air Force will also conduct military honors. No visitation is scheduled.
