Wayne W. Wahlenmeier
About the donor:
Wayne W. Wahlenmeier, of Berkeley, Calif., died June 28, 2008. He was commissioned as a second lieutenant and served in the U.S. Army, 4th Infantry Division, 1/10 Cavalry Squadron, as recon platoon leader in Pleiku, the central highlands of Vietnam, from 1967-1968. Wahlenmeier completed two tours of duty and was twice awarded the Military Order of the Purple Heart. He continued to be actively involved with the military through membership in the American Legion, Veterans of Foreign Wars, Vietnam Veterans of America, the Association of the U.S. Army and the Armed Forces Communications and Electronics Association. Wahlenmeier served for five years as a member of the advisory board to the president of The Citadel. He was a life member in The Citadel Alumni Association.
