Presented to donor in 2017 at the class 50th reunion by the 19 survivors of the 25 members of GOLF CO CLASS OF 1967 (G-67)

  • designing and issuing the G-67 BASEBALL CAP
  • organizing G-67 activities at our class reunions
  • sending email notices to G-67 men, or to their widows on the anniversaries of -
  • birthdays of members and of spouses

  • AT TH E PRESENTATION- because my highest rank had been Cadet Private 1st Class, I joked that after 50 years I had finally been promoted to Cadet 2nd LT. Leon Yonce added: "My sword was awarded to me by the COMMANDANT. Yours was awarded by your PEERS.

The sword was Bill Riggs' idea. It was seconded by his cadet roommate Mike Bozeman. Bill told me that this beautifully etcned sword and scabbard cost in excess of $600. Bill and Mike were key cadets during the plebe year of Charles D. Foster- THE CITADEL's first black cadet. Foster was assigned to GOLF CO - Riggs as his Company Commander and Bozeman as his Platoon Leader.
