Retired Colonel Aaron James Krakower (September 28, 1934 – August 29, 2024, of Rancho Mirage, CA, passed away peacefully at the age of 89. Aaron was a beloved husband, father, and grandfather. Aaron was born September 28, 1934 in Yonkers, New York to Abe Krakower and Theresa Pirintozzi Krakower.
Aaron, as a child of immigrants, wanted to serve his country from a young age. From the 7th grade through 12th grade he attended Manlius Military Academy. His college years were spent at the prestigious Citadel Military College of South Carolina graduating with Honors. His military career began as a commissioned 2nd LT in the US Army 101st Airbourne. Aaron was always proud to be a Screaming Eagle. Aaron spent 25 years in the US Army and served his country proudly in the Vietnam War, where he was awarded the Bronze Star and the Air Medal. Aaron retired as a Colonel. After his military career was over he moved his family back to Poughkeepsie NY to take over his family business. He spent his remaining years with his beloved wife Helen in Rancho Mirage CA.
Aaron is survived by his wife of 65 years, Helen, sons David and Robert. his daughter in law Loretta and his 5 grandchildren Jennifer, Samantha, Nicholas, Nicole, Caroline.
He will be missed.
