Frank W. Price, Jr., of Moncks Corner, passed away on May 30th at his home. He was the son of the late Frank W. and Ada Louise Price Etheridge of Russellville, SC. He was born in Moncks Corner on 29 Sep 1941. Frank graduated from St. Stephen High School (’59) and The Citadel (’63), where he was a proud member of Summerall Guards. He went on to serve in the US Army’s Armored Tank Division, where he obtained the rank of First Lieutenant. Once out of the Army, he applied his military defense knowledge at companies such as Boeing and Lockheed-Martin. In 1972, he and 2 partners founded American Development Corp (ADCOR), a military defense contracting firm, which became the largest minority-owned manufacturing plant in the United States. During the 90’s, ADCOR employed over 300 men & women in the Lowcountry. During this career at ADCOR, Frank also obtained his master’s degree from Webster University. He was on multiple Boards of Directors and Advisory Committees.
In the late 80’s, Frank and his wife, Peggy, purchased a lakefront home in Bonneau, SC, the former home of The Citadel’s president General Harris. It was there that Frank enjoyed many years of sunsets, yard work and hosting family and friends for water skiing, swimming and dinners of lobsters and steaks. Many of the world’s problems were solved at that dinner table and cherished memories for his family were made and still talked about all these years later. It was also around that table that Frank imparted his wealth of entrepreneurial knowledge to his children to start their own successful businesses.
Surviving are his wife, Peggy; daughter, Kelly (John “Skip”) Williams; son David (April) Price; stepson Justin Martin. He was the greatest Grandpa to Brooke & Megan Williams; Emma, Mary Catherine (Kyle), Grace & Ella Price; Frank “Wil” IV, Ben & Amelia Price and Jade & Denna Martin. He was preceeded in death by his first wife, Anne Fincher Price and his son, Frank Price III.
A private family service was held on June 2nd at Dial-Murray Funeral Home, in Moncks Corner. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Meals on Wheels or your choice of charity.
