William A. Boss, age 83, of Boynton Beach, Fla., died peacefully after a brief illness with his beloved wife, Inge, and his children by his side in Michigan. Formerly of Jacksonville, FL and Lombard, IL, Bill was a graduate of Landon High School in Jacksonville, FL and The Citadel in Charleston, SC. Bill served in the U.S. Air Force and was stationed in Germany where he met the love of his life, Inge Scheffler Boss. They were married almost sixty years. After the Air Force, Bill’s first job was at the Zenith Corporation in Chicago. Bill spent his career in software development in the Chicago area. Bill loved his family and the water. Summers were spent on a lake in Michigan teaching his family to fish and water ski. In retirement, Bill and Inge have lived in Chicago on the lake, Mobile Bay, and the Florida coasts. Bill was preceded in death by his parents, Aldrich and Louise, and two brothers, A. Jay and Michael C. Boss. Besides his wife, Bill is survived by his sons, Torsten (Michele) Boss and Christopher (Roger) McCaffrey-Boss, and his daughter Alexa Martin, his six grandchildren, Justin and Torsten Boss, Robert and Jamie McCaffrey-Boss, and Erich and Ryan Martin, as well as several nieces and nephews. Memorials may be made to the American Heart Association or your favorite youth sports team.
