Constantine “Connie” L. Lagakis passed away on February 9th, 2022. He was born June 27, 1923 “in Hempstead, NY, the son of Louis and Olive Lagakis.
He attended the Citadel, served in WWII and the Korean War, where he commanded Company B, 7th Infantry Division. After serving in the military, he joined Ethicon, Inc., a division of Johnson & Johnson. He was the consummate salesman and won many awards and accolades.
He and his wife, Nalda (deceased) moved to Beaufort, SC in 1985 where they lived a full life cultivating wonderful friendships and his beloved vegetable garden. They were also able to travel to all parts of the world. Connie was a member of The Thursday Club and The Seventh Infantry Regiment Society.
Connie is survived by his daughter, Lee (Michael) Boswell of Beaufort, SC, his son, Mark (Betsy) Lagakis of Callawassie Island, SC, and three grandsons, Brock Lagakis, Peter Boswell and Kyle (Allison) Lagakis (all who affectionately called him Grumps). He was predeceased by his sister Jean Benner.
His family would like to thank his wonderful neighbors, especially the Warren’s, the Baggett’s, the Cunningham’s and the Leitner’s for their care and support of Connie over the years. He spoke so highly of each of them and was so appreciative of all that they did for him.
A celebration of his life is planned for the spring.
