James Edwin “Jim” Majors, 83, of Greenville, husband of Barbara Majors, died Friday, June 5, 2026.
Born in Washington, DC, he was the son of the late Frederick Glenn Majors and Maud Lee Silcott Majors.
Jim was a member of St. Anthony of Padua Catholic Church. He was a graduate of the Citadel and served in the U. S. Army. His career was as a civil engineer with Daniel, Fluor Daniel, and Fluor. In his retirement he was a manager of the Upstate section of the Palmetto Trail.
Friends and family will remember Jim as a good, honest and dependable man. He was a kind man, whose straightforward manner was a defining aspect of his character. He enjoyed volunteering in the community, especially his time with the Red Cross, which included numerous deployments to disaster zones. Jim was also known to enjoy telling corny jokes.
In addition to his wife of 60 years, he is survived by three children: Catherine Close and her husband, Ted; Velma Gibson; and James Edwin Majors Jr.; three grandchildren: Christina, Thomas, and Ivy; one great-grandchild, Shauna; and two sisters, Cheryl Majors and Kay Guy.
He was preceded in death by his father, Frederick Glenn Majors, and his mother, Maud Lee Majors.
A Funeral Mass will be celebrated at St. Anthony of Padua Catholic Church, on Thursday, June 11, 2026, at 11:00 AM.
