Wilbur Raymond Tuten III (born April 6th, 1954), of Charleston, died June 1st, 2025, in his home under the care of Agape Hospice Care, his best friend Dale Campbell, daughter Mary Tuten, ex-wife Donna Tuten, and loved ones.
Raymond is predeceased by his parents (Dr. Buck and Mrs. Ludie Tuten), his sister (Cathy Tuten Mcalister), and his first wife (Susan Scruggs Tuten). Surviving family members are his sister and her husband (Donna and Charles Farmer), his ex-wife (Donna Atkin Tuten), his daughter (Mary Elizabeth Tuten), and his stepson (Geter Dale Tallent).
After completing his BA Degree from the Citadel in 1976, Raymond worked with the SC Department of Natural Resources and later retired after 25 years of teaching science in Berkely County Middle Schools where he received “The Teacher of the Year”. Raymond enjoyed his retirement by playing golf and working part time at the Stono River Golf Course. Raymond did not know a stranger. He was immensely loved, and he will be greatly missed, especially for his personable quick wit. Comments Raymond made to his daughter, Mary Tuten, and best friend Dale Campbell: “I have lived a blessed life. I am excited about cruising the universe and leaving messages in the stars for everyone!”
