John Francis Randall-US Air Force (Lt. Col. Ret), passed away on Friday, July 14, 2017 in Shreveport, Louisiana. He moved from Burke, Va. for health reasons (Alzheimer’s diseases), and to be near family. He was born April 29, 1937 in the American Consulate, Puerto Castilla, Honduras to his parents, Frank Austin Randall-US Army (Col. Ret) and Martha Violet Randall (RN). John grew up in Charleston, South Carolina – His heart was always there. He lived in Burke, Va. for 37 years, before returning to Shreveport, La. He was predeceased by his parents and sister, Patricia M. Randall Carrere, and wife Sigrid Anita Randall. He is survived by his son, John M. (Randy) Randall and daughter, Karen Frances Randall US Navy (Chief Ret), grandsons, Devin Michael Navarrete and Dylan Randall Navarrete, great- granddaughter, Alessandra Nicole Navarrete, brother, Mike Randall and his wife Lynda Anne Randall, nephew, Frank Austin Randall, niece, Lisa Randall Blackmon and her husband Jackie Blackmon, nephew Capt. Michael Randall Blackmon, US Army, two great- nieces Jessica Lynn Blackmon and Tiffany Anne Randall, his brother-in-law, Tom Carrere and a cousin, Terese Heymond. In 1955, John graduated from St. Andrews High School (Rocks) in Charleston, S.C. He began college as a Cadet at The Citadel Military College in Charleston, S.C., where he earned a B.S. degree in Electrical Engineering. During his senior year in the Class of 1959, he was Executive Officer of L Company and commissioned as a Lt. upon graduation. Throughout the years, John often said “Go Bulldogs” and maintained contact with his College Alumni throughout his lifetime. His best friend and college roommate, Dr. Al Eads, Jr., of S.C. was like a brother. After graduating from college, John worked as an engineer in the construction of the Naval Weapons Station in Goose Creek, S.C. from June, 1959 until reporting for duty in the United States Air Force in June, 1960. While stationed in Grand Forks, N.D. John met and married Lt. Sigrid Anita Von Theumer, his wife and mother of their two children. John flew as Navigator attached to the B-52 Bomb Wing in Grand Forks, N.D., Castle AFB, Strategic Air Command (SAC), Merced, Ca. and Barksdale AFB, Bossier City, LA. Then John transferred to Intelligence and relocated to Supreme Headquarters Allied Powers Europe (SHAPE), Brussels, Belgium. After two years, John transferred to Andrews AFB, Washington, D.C. where his last assignment was an attachment to the Defense Intelligence Agency (DIA), which led to his subsequent employment. During his Air Force Career, he received a M.A. degree in Management from Central Michigan University in 1980 (Andrews AFB). He retired after twenty-four years of active duty service to his country. He loved his country and was truly an American Patriot. In 1985, as a civilian, he began working as a Project Manager with Electronic Warfare Associates, Inc. (EWA) in Herndon, VA. He enjoyed his second career for 17 years until he retired in 2002. After retirement, he enjoyed traveling to visit his family and friends around the country. John will be genuinely missed by his friends, family and peers. Throughout his lifetime, John loved flying, navigating, boating in lakes and the Intracoastal Waterway, water and snow skiing, dancing, shooting pool, playing racquetball, deep sea fishing, reading and was a huge fan of the Washington Redskins NFL team. Most of all, he loved people. John was a member of the Air Force Association, Burke Centre Conservancy Homeowners Association, Association of Old Crows, American Legion, The Citadel Alumni Association and the Arlington Hall Ski Club. There will be an Air Force Funeral with Full Military Honors at Arlington National Cemetery Columbarium. Interment will be with his deceased wife, Sigrid Anita Randall at Court 8 Section LL Column 4, Niche 6, at an undetermined date and time.
