Adam Wayne Buchner, 32, of Charleston, SC, died November 19, 2016. Mass of Christian burial will be held at 10:30 am, Wednesday, November 23, 2016 at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Hartsville, SC with Father Dan Papineau, Celebrant. The family will receive friends following the service in the Fellowship Hall. Adam was born February 7, 1984 in Wausau, WI, son of Mary Mathison Buchner and the late Roger Howard Buchner. He graduated from Hartsville High School in Hartsville, SC, where he was active in marching band, jazz band, and JROTC, and became an Eagle Scout. He enlisted in the U. S. Army in 2003, graduated from The Citadel in 2006, and was commissioned into the SC Army National Guard where he served on active duty with the 218th CSB MEB, including 18 months in Afghanistan. He was awarded the Meritorious Service Medal, among other honors, and was honorably discharged as a First Lieutenant in 2011. He was in the process of obtaining his Master’s Degree in Clinical Psychology and was a member of Blessed Sacrament Church. Surviving are his mother, Mary Mathison Buchner of Hartsville SC; fiance;e, Sarah Anderson of Charleston, SC; sister, Ellen Tatman of Charleston, SC; nephew and niece, Mathison Buchner and Marisol McGehee.
