Jackie Jenkins Doffin, aged 86, passed away on October 30, 2024, in North Charleston, SC. Born on January 4, 1938.
Jackie completed her education at North Charleston High School, followed by a Bachelor of Arts from Baptist College and a Master’s Degree from The Citadel. Her career was marked by significant contributions to Child Protective Services and as a Family Court Guardian ad Litem. She also served as an Adjunct Psychology Professor at Charleston Southern and Lieber and McDougal Prisons. Jackie was a licensed Marriage and Family Therapist, touching many lives through her professional endeavors.
She is remembered fondly for her humor and her often-repeated saying, “Humor is not a trick, nor jokes. Humor is a presence in the world, like grace, and shines on everybody.
Jackie is survived by her husband, Alfred Shelton of Goose Creek; daughter, Donna Doffin Hicks (Robert) of Goose Creek; son, Alan Doffin (Anita), of Pearisburg, VA; stepdaughter, Teresa Shelton of Goose Creek; stepson, Todd Shelton (Elaine) of Summerville; brothers, Charles F. Jenkins of North Augusta, Carl E. Jenkins, Jr. of Cottageville and sister, Jo Jenkins Echols (Robert) of Birmingham, AL. She was a devoted grandmother to Joshua Doffin, Jenson Doffin, Griffin Shelton and Grace Shelton, and an aunt to 10 nieces and nephews. Jackie was preceded in death by her parents, Carl E. Jenkins, Sr. and Josie T. Jenkins.
A Celebration of Life Service and Reception will be held on December 7, 2024, from 11:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. at 112 Roselle Avenue, Goose Creek, SC 29445.
