Thomas Randall “Randy” Hallman, 77, of West Columbia, died Friday, April 19, 2024, at Colonial Gardens Memory Care Community. He was born in West Columbia to the late Oliver Davis “O.D.” and Gertie Lee Hallman. He was a 1965 graduate of Brookland-Cayce High School, a 1973 graduate of The Citadel, and earned his master’s degree from the University of South Carolina in 1979. Mr. Hallman served in the U.S. Naval Reserve and went to Dental Tech School in San Diego, California. Mr. Hallman valued education and first taught school at Brookland-Cayce High School where he met his lifelong best friend, Marion Waters. Mr. Hallman later served as the assistant principal at Northside Middle School and Cyril B. Busbee Middle School. After 28 years in education, Mr. Hallman retired as the principal of Pine Ridge Middle School. After his retirement, he returned to teaching at Gilbert Middle School, Saluda Middle School, Brookland-Cayce High School, and then Epworth Children’s Home. He was a member of Faith Lutheran Church and a member of the Cayce-West Columbia Lion’s Club. Mr. Hallman was an avid outdoorsman. He loved fishing on Lake Murray with friends and family and spending time at the family’s home. He also enjoyed hunting and riding the tractor at his farm, Turkey Track. Mr. Hallman was previously a member of Kingville Hunting Club and Fort Motte Hunting Club where he served as the club’s secretary for numerous years. Many hunters killed their first deer with him due to his patience and guidance.
Mr. Hallman was a loving husband, father, and granddaddy. He is survived by his wife of 53 years, Saradean Kennerly Hallman; a daughter, Kimberly Hallman (Eric) Banks; a son, Randall Davis (Casey) Hallman; a loving sister, Kaye Hallman (Gene) Ford; granddaughters, Kaitlyn Elizabeth Banks, Kennedy Elise Banks, and Marydavis Ann Hallman; nephews, Darren Ford and Oliver (Jennifer) Moore; and nieces, Tammy (Joe) Jur and Barbara Lovelace. He was predeceased by brothers, Prentiss Hallman, Lanier Hallman, Marquis (Dollie) Hallman, and Raymond (Helen) Hallman; sisters, Janelle (Paul) Havird and Brenda Hallman (Billy) Moore.
A funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Monday, April 22, 2024, at Woodridge Memorial Park’s Gazebo at 138 Corley Mill Road in Lexington, S.C. by his dear friend, “Captain” Marion Waters. Visitation will follow after the service.

Mr. Hallman was blessed with many cherished friendships, many of which evolved from the field of education. The family would like to thank the Executive Director of Colonial Gardens Memory Care, Max Peirce, and all of the staff and nurses at the community for their devoted care.
