Caleb Daniel Fisher, 48, of Charleston, South Carolina, died in his hometown on November 5, 2023. Caleb was known for his big blue eyes, infectious laugh and ability to find common ground with others. Born in Florence, SC, in 1975, to Jim and Beverly Fisher, he brought to the couple excitement and a big personality from the start. He was enthusiastic and quick to master the tasks his father laid before him. As an adult he often said “I learned everything I know from my Dad.” Caleb was willing to bring his broad skill set to help those he loved no matter how small, large, or challenging the task. His faith was one of deeds, allowing his actions to speak for his heart. James 2:26: “As the body without the spirit is dead, so faith without deeds is dead.” He earned the rank of Eagle Scout and attended St. Andrews High School before proudly graduating from The Citadel with a degree in Biology. Caleb was a third generation “Railroad Man,” dutifully employed for 26 years at CSX Railroad. From a young age, he had an enduring love of the outdoors, particularly the Low Country waters. He found a haven in the salt air, fishing, shrimping, scuba diving, and boating. He met his true love, Jenny Fouquette, in 1996. The two were married June 12, 1999, at Lowndes Grove Plantation. Together they found joy in their children, a son, Jackson, age 15 and daughter, Claire, age 8. Caleb was an entirely dedicated father, proving to be hands on in every aspect of his children’s lives. Nothing was more special than watching his son learn to sail and compete in regional regattas or pridefully observing his daughter perform for an audience with her angelic voice. Caleb was preceded in death by his father, James R. Fisher, Jr., and is survived by his mother, Beverly Burnette Fisher; the mother of his children, Jennifer Fouquette; son, Jackson Fisher; daughter, Claire Fisher; brother and sister-in-law, Joshua and Kimberly Fisher; and their daughters, Cara and Laura. The family wishes to express their deepest gratitude to Charleston Day School and the James Island Yacht Club’s Youth Sailing Program for their nurturing support of the Fisher family. Tuesday, November 14th, 2023, a Celebration of Life will be held at the James Island Yacht Club, 734 Wampler Dr., Charleston, SC 29412. The family will receive friends for visitation & food at 1:00 pm, his Memorial Service and Sailor’s Send Off will follow at 2:30 pm.
