W Richard Lobell, Jr., of Jupiter, Fla., died April 3, 2021.
Rich was born in Quantico ,Virginia on July 13th 1951. As the son of a Marine officer, he traveled extensively during his early life. He graduated from Fairfax High School, Fairfax, Virginia in 1969.
He entered The Citadel in August 1969 with the Class of 1973. Richard was an avid history buff, and majored in Political Science . He was an outstanding member of both the History and Political Science Clubs. He was a proud member of India Company. His classmates from the Class of 1973 will always cherish our memories of him. He was the strongest among us. We are all better for having known him.
While coping with the rigors of being a knob, one of Richard’s classmates suffered a terrible injury. Richard was instrumental in his friend being able to remain in school. This may have sparked Richard’s interest in medicine. He went on to be a respiratory therapist and worked for many years at St. Mary’s hospital in Rogers, Ark.
His co-workers there remember him as a kind man who was always willing to share his vast experience. He served as a mentor to many nurses and was a respected member of the hospital staff.
Richard was predeceased by his parents Colonel William and Anne Lobell and his sister Jane Lobell. He is survived by his brother Steve Lobell.
He passed away in Jupiter,Florida on April, 3rd, 2021.
