Craig Stuart Petersen, age 62, passed away on February 22, 2023. He resided in Pike Road, Alabama.
Craig was born to Lavina Petersen and Roy Petersen in Port Arthur, Texas but grew up in Houston, Texas. Craig graduated from Waltrip High School in 1979 and went on study at the Citadel in Charleston, South Carolina. Upon graduating with a bachelor’s degree in psychology, he proudly became a commissioned officer in the United States Air Force. During his career, Craig obtained a master’s degree in public administration from Troy University.
Craig met his wife, Cathy, in Charleston, South Carolina during his sophomore year at the Citadel. It was love at first sight. They later married and had the their son, Kyle. Craig was a loving and devoted husband and father who always put the needs of his family above his own.
Craig’s beloved mother, Lavina, was a concert pianist who instilled in him a life-long passion for the arts. He loved attending ballets, listening to classical music, visiting museums and viewing silent films. Craig also loved to explore different cuisines. His favorite hobby was adding to his vast collection of autographed books.
Craig was passionate about his career in the Air Force. It was a career he dreamed about as a child. After 37 years of dedicated service, Craig retired as a colonel in the United States Air Force in 2020.
Craig was predeceased by Lavina Petersen and Roy Petersen. He is survived by his wife, Cathy and son, Kyle.
A graveside service for Craig will be held Tuesday, March 14, 2023 from 10:30 AM to 11:00 AM at Fort Sam Houston National Cemetery, 1520 Harry Wurzbach Rd., San Antonio, Tx 78209.
