Harriet Moskos Collins, 57, died peacefully at home on Friday, April 10, 2015. She was born in Charleston SC, on June 18, 1957 to Ross (Rosie) and Mary Moskos. She attended St. Andrews Elementary School and St. Andrews High School. Harriet graduated from Winthrop University in 1979 with BS in Physical Education and received a Masters of Education from the Citadel in 1987.
Harriet was a physical education teacher in Berkeley and Charleston Counties and retired in 2011 from C.E. Williams Middle School after 32 years in teaching. Her goal in teaching was always to find a physical activity that each student would enjoy and could continue throughout their life. Harriet dedicated her retirement to the service of others by caring for her parents and other family members.
Her greatest joy in life was her family. She loved traveling with her children and their teammates’ families for numerous youth sporting events. She and her husband, John, cherished every day of their almost 29 years of marriage. Harriet was an avid sports fan and loved attending high school sports and Clemson football and baseball games. She was a lifetime member of the Greek Orthodox Church Holy of Trinity, where she served with dedication and love.
Harriet is survived by her husband John, daughter Hanna, and son John David, as well as her bothers Jerry Moskos of Charleston, SC, and Paul Moskos (Bonnie) of Chapin, SC, and numerous nieces and nephews. They would like to thank all the family and friends that have helped Harriet during her courageous battle.
