YORK — William Floyd , of 331 E. Liberty St., died Thursday afternoon after a battle with cancer. He was 78. The funeral will be 11 a.m. Saturday at First Presbyterian Church, with the Rev. J. Todd Speed officiating and the Rev. Pressley Neal assisting. Burial will be at Rose Hill Cemetery. A native of York, Mr. Allison was a son of the late William Floyd Allison Sr. and Alda Mendenhall Allison. He graduated from The Citadel in 1945. He was a member of First Presbyterian Church, where he was an elder. He was on the first York Planning Commission. Surviving are his wife, Anne Taylor Allison; three sons, William Barry Allison of Newton, N.C., Robert Floyd Allison of York and Hugh Taylor Allison of Fort Mill; two daughters, Elizabeth Lee Allison of Mount Pleasant and Cathy Allison Thompson of Charlotte; his brother, John Edward Allison of North Myrtle Beach; and six grandchildren. The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 tonight at Bratton Funeral Home. Memorials may be made to Hospice & Community Care, 325 S.
