ROBERT L. (BOB) CLARK III entered into rest Saturday, January 14, 2006, at Seton Medical Center, Austin, Texas. He was born in Braddock, Pennsylvania on February 19, 1923. Bob spent his early years in Pennsylvania and briefly attended The Citadel in Charleston, South Carolina before serving his country during World War II as a B-24 pilot in England. After WWII, he returned to Charleston to complete his college education at The Citadel. During this time he met Ellen Cantwell, his future wife of 56 years, a blessing for which he always considered himself the luckiest man in the world. He served as a career pilot in the United States Air Force for 30 years. During that period, he served in the Korean Conflict, the Vietnam Conflict, and various other duty stations around the world. He had served as an elder within the Presbyterian Church (U.S.A.) and was a member of Westlake Hills Presbyterian Church, Austin, Texas. Bob’s priorities were God, family and country. His Christian faith was strong and certain throughout his life. Bob set a great example for his family of how to live life. He was patient, understanding and supportive, and loved being the father of four sons. He was particularly proud of being an American and having served his country for most of his life. Survivors are his wife, Ellen; two sisters, Eleanor Weddell of San Jose, California and Tish Woods of New Brighton, Minnesota; one sister-in-law, Anne Clark of Cary, North Carolina; four sons and daughters-in-law, Bob and Mary Jo of Augusta, Georgia, Bill and Christine of the American Embassy in Israel, Steve and Joan of Austin, Texas and Tim and Toni of Austin, Texas; eleven grandchildren, Lindsay, Sarah, Drew, Ellen, William, Elizabeth, Catherine, Anne, Bob, Laura, and Kathleen; and one great-grandchild, Trey. A memorial service will be held Thursday, January 19, 2006 at 2:00 p.m. at Westlake Hills Presbyterian Church with Pastor Douglas K. Fletcher officiating.
