Return to previous page? Paul Willis & WILLIS, Paul CANTON, GA – Col. Paul K. Willis, Jr., husband of Becky Willis, passed away on Sunday, April 8, 2007 from complications following heart surgery. Col. Willis was born in Walterboro, SC, May 30, 1942, a son of the late Paul K. Willis, Sr., and Mary Dennis Willis. A 1965 graduate of The Citadel, Paul served as a pilot in the USAF on active duty until 1973. He worked for the Administration Offices of the Courts for the State of Georgia and later became the Court Administrator for the Superior Courts of Cobb County. In 1977, he returned as a pilot to Eastern Airlines until March 1989. In 1974, Col. Willis joined the Air Force Reserves and served at Dobbins AFB as the Squadron Commander of the 700th TAS until his assignment to FEMA. He retired from the AF Reserves in 1993 after 27 ½ years of service. He was employed by the FAA from 1990-1993 in Atlanta, and was then transferred to Anchorage, Alaska and retired from the FAA in 2003. He was a member of the Sons of Confederate Veterans, H.L. Hunley Camp #143 in Charleston. Surviving, in addition to his wife are a son Paul K. Rusty Willis, III, and daughters Wendy Willis Dover and Mallie Willis Fisher both of Canton. There is one sister, Polly Willis LaDuke of Grand Junction, CO, and one brother, Joe Willis of Varnville, SC, as well as 11 grandchildren. Graveside funeral services will be held at 1:00 PM Saturday at the Cottageville Cemetery. The family will receive friends immediately following the service at the cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial gifts may be made to The Citadel Foundation’s Academic Endowment Fund in memory of Col. Paul K. Willis, Class of 1965.
