REMBERT, SR., John Dr. John Blackwell Rembert, Sr., 83, of Orangeburg, SC, died Monday, December 4, at his home. He was born in Manning, SC, March 10, 1923, to the late Haynes Richardson and Lillian Blackwell Rembert. Dr. Rembert attended the Citadel prior to serving in WWII; he served in the 3rd Army, 99 Infantry Division, L. Company, 395 Infantry Regiment under the leadership of Gen. George S. Patton during the Battle of the Bulge and the Bridge at Remagen campaigns. After discharge, he attended MUSC in Charleston, SC, and Duke University Medical School in Durham, NC. He practiced medicine in Orangeburg for 35 years. He was the only ear, nose and throat surgeon between Columbia and Charleston for many years. He served as past secretary for the Edisto Medical Society and the Rotary Club of Orangeburg. He was also on the board of the Orangeburg Salvation Army for many years. He was the widower of Cherry Sims Rembert and was predeceased by two brothers Haynes Richard Rembert and James Davis Rembert. He was a devout Christian. Survivors include children James Davis Rembert of Madison, MA, John Blackwell Rembert, Jr., (Bonnie) of Orangeburg, and Cherry Rembert Aroneck (Robert) of Hilton Head Island, SC; grandchildren, Mark A. Aroneck (Anne) of Denver, CO, Tracey C. Rembert of Brentwood, MA, Sims Rembert Weathers (Bryan) of Harleyville, SC, Lillian R. Rembert of Charleston, SC, Robert B. Aroneck, Jr., and Sanford N. Aroneck of Hilton Head Island, SC, and one great-grandchild, Abigail Sims Weathers of Harleyville, a brother, Richard Carson Rembert (Rosemary) of Beaufort, SC, and two sisters-in-law, Mrs. Mary S. Gressette and Mrs. Lillian B. Rembert, both of Orangeburg. The family will be receiving friends on Thursday, December 7, from 4 to 7 p.m. at the home, 1481 Riverbank Drive, Orangeburg.
