MILD, GEORGE CURT, 6/3/20 – 2/8/08 – 87, Mr. Mild passed away peacefully after a long health decline. He has spent the past 8 years in Jacksonville/Ponte Vedra after moving from Maitland where he lived and fished on Lake Sybelia for 35 years. A proud Citadel grad, Class of ’43, Curt retired from USAF in ’63 as a Major, with 20 years in the service. He then got his BA and Masters Degrees in English from Rollins College. Mr. Mild loved teaching and spent over 20 years in the Orange City School System, the majority happily teaching thousands of Boone HS students English, Lit, Vocabulary. He received many teaching accolades from numerous grateful students over the years despite being legally blind He retired from BHS in 1984 and always cheered proudly for the Braves. Mr. Mild also is a past Pres. of the Fl Blinded Veterans Assoc. Mr. Mild is survived by his daughters, Jane Mild Laroque of Lexington, MA, Cathy Curtis Abbott of Ponte Vedra, FL and his granddaughter, Katie Laroque. Mr. Mild is now fishing the lakes, streams and rivers in heaven and is happy.
