William A. “Bill” Flanagin, of North Charleston, age 58, passed away on July 14, 2012, after a long battle with cancer. Bill Flanagin was born on August 2, 1953, and grew up in the Maryville, Tennessee, area. His most recent employment was as a supervisor with Honeywell. He was a graduate of the Citadel and a veteran of the United States Air Force, South Carolina National Guard, and the United States Army Reserves. Captain Flanagin was a company commander of the 941st Transportation Company, USAR, during Operation Desert Storm. He was a highly decorated soldier and a great patriot. Bill is survived by one son, Eugene S. Flanagin, who devotedly took care of his father during his illness. He is predeceased by his father, John Flanagin, Jr. He is also survived by his mother, Katherine Flanagin, of Maryville, Tennessee, one brother and 2 sisters.
