The Very REV. FR. MATTHEW B. MACKAY, of Katy, Texas passed away on Monday, July 26, 2010. He was born in California on November 18, 1955 and was the son of Bruce and Suzanne MacKay. Fr. Matthew was a graduate of the Citadel, served in the United States Marine Corps, as United States Navy Chaplain and was married to Lynn Shiple on December 30, 1981. He is the founder and current pastor of St. Joseph Antiochian Orthodox Church in Houston, Texas. Survived by his wife of 28 years, Lynn MacKay; sons, Patrick and Sean; parents, Bruce and Suzanne MacKay; sisters, Anna and husband Jon, Jill and husband Mark.The family will receive friends for visitation on Thursday, July 29th from 5 to 7 pm at St. Joseph Antiochian Orthodox Church, 10644 Hammerly Blvd, Houston, Texas 77043 and with the funeral service for the Departure of the Priest at 7 pm. A Concelebrated Presbyteral Funeral Divine Liturgy will be held Friday, July 30th at 10 am at St. Joseph Antiochian Orthodox Church with interment to follow at Forest Park Westheimer Cemetery. In lieu of usual remembrances memorials may be made to the St. Joseph Icon Fund, St. Joseph Orthodox Church, 10644 Hammerly Blvd, Houston, Texas 77043. Tags: 1978
