Donald Charles Culclasure of Taylors, S.C. went to be with his Lord and Savior on April 4, 2009. Don was born on May 27, 1943 in Buffalo, New York. He was the son of the late Raymond Thaxter and Alice O’Neil Matheny Culclasure. Don is survived by his loving wife of 30 years, Kathy Brown Culclasure. Also surviving are two sons and daughters-in-law, Paul and Sara Culclasure of Walterboro, S.C., and Jeff and Lura Culclasure of Easley, S.C.; a daughter, Mary Alice Culclasure of the home; two daughters and sons-in-law, Missy and Gary Farris of Easley, S.C., and Mindy and Frank Pickard of Dacusville, S.C.; four grandchildren, Owen, Caysie, Luke, and Samuel; a sister and brother-in-law, Mary and Ron Stephens of Hendersonville, N.C.; and two nieces, Catherine Smith, and Salley Roth and family of Savannah, Ga. Don was a 1961 graduate of Greenville High and a 1965 graduate of The Citadel. He served in the US 7th Army as Captain for 3 years during the Vietnam Era. He retired from Roane Barker in 2002 as a medical supply salesman. The past year he and his wife celebrated their 30th anniversary at the Elizabeth Leigh Inn in Hendersonville, N.C. Don loved spending time with his family camping and going to the beach. He loved to read and watch all sports on TV. For the past two years he has enjoyed spending time with his father-in-law, Hugh Brown. They both loved watching football and keeping up with the Atlanta Braves and Clemson Tigers, as well as competing with each other during the Wheel of Fortune. He also enjoyed spending time with his close friend, Johnny Tyner. Don has always been involved in various activities and ministries that involved children and youth. He was a referee for 25 years in S.A.I.L. with Edwards Forest Community Pool, PTA President at Taylors Elementary, and has served God in various ministries for 30 years. He was an elder and member of Northpointe Community Church. The family would like to express a special thanks to Interim Hospice, as well as family, friends, and community churches who showed love, kindness, and encouragement through their visits, phone calls, cards, and prayers during Don’s illness. Funeral services will be held Tuesday, April 7, 2009 at 1 p.m. in the Woodlawn Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Thomas Vandiver officiating. Burial will follow in Woodlawn Memorial Park, Greenville. The family will be receiving friends prior to the service from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. The family is at the home.
