Marshall Berg entered into eternal rest on the evening of December 4, 2008, Marshall “Micky” Berg, husband of Janet Silverstein Berg. Residence, Charleston, SC. The relatives and friends of Mr. and Mrs. Marshall Berg are invited to attend the funeral service of the former, Sunday, December 7, 2008 at eleven o’clock at the graveside in Brith Sholom Beth Israel Cemetery, “Maryville”. Mr. Berg was born May 18, 1923 in Brooklyn, NY, the son of Samuel A. Berg and Rose Berman Berg. He attended The Citadel in 1941 and his class was drafted in 1943. He served in Patton’s 14th Armor Division and landed in Marseille. He was awarded the Purple Heart and was discharged in 1945. He was a member of Brith Sholom Beth Israel Synagogue. Mr. Berg began working at LeRoys Jewelers in 1946 along with his father-in-law. He was a member and Past Commander of Jewish War Veterans and belonged to the Masons. He was a lifetime member of Hebrew Benevolent Society. He is survived by his wife of sixty-three years of Charleston, SC; one son, Jerold David Berg of Charleston, SC; one daughter: Joy Berg Flax and her husband Dr. Fred Flax of Atlanta, GA; three grandchildren, Eric, Jeremy, and Jessica; four great grandchildren, Sam, Leila Rose, Max and Sarah. He is predeceased by his son, Russell Fredric Berg, and his sister, Leona Berg Levine and his brother, Sherwin Berg.
