William Zachariah McGhee Sr. COLUMBIA – A memorial service for William Zachariah McGhee Sr., 92, will be held Saturday at 3 p.m. at the Chapel of Hope, South Carolina Episcopal Home at Still Hopes. The family will receive friends in the parlor at Still Hopes following the service. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to St. John’s Episcopal Church, 2827 Wheat Street, Columbia, SC 29205, or The South Carolina Episcopal Home at Still Hopes, 1 Still Hopes Drive, West Columbia, SC 29169. Dunbar Funeral Home, Devine Street Chapel, is assisting the family. Mr. McGhee died Wednesday, January 7, 2004. Born in Greenwood, he was a son of the late Samuel Hodges and Laurie Harrall McGhee. He attended The Citadel, and graduated from George Washington University, where he received his L.L.B. He was a former member of the South Carolina House of Representatives, and was a member of the South Carolina Bar Association and the District of Columbia Bar Association. Surviving are his wife, Louise Brown McGhee; son and daughter-in-law, W. Zach McGhee Jr. and Cornelia Hiller McGhee of Columbia; daughter and son-in-law, Laurie McGhee and Charles O. Lowe of St. Petersburg, Fla.; four grandchildren, William McGhee III, John McGhee, and Harris Lowe, all of Atlanta, and Laurie Nelson of Charlotte, N.C.; great-grandson, William Jacob McGhee of Atlanta.
