William M. “Bill” Rast, Jr. passed away on July 1, 2014. He was born on January 18, 1928 in Greenville, SC to the late William M. Rast, Sr. and Marjorie Rast. Mr. Rast was a graduate of The Citadel and a decorated Korean War veteran. Bill was a Real Estate Broker for many years before retirement. He was an avid golfer and enjoyed playing tennis and bridge. He is survived by his wife of 52 years, Mary P. Rast and their children, William M. “Monty” Rast, III (Dawne), Rhonda R. Beck (Michael) and R. Shane Rast; two grandchildren, Hunter Rast and Kaitlyn Rast; and step- grandson, Zachary Clouse. Also surviving are four nieces, two nephews, and their families. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sister, Rosemary Butler. A service in celebration of his life will be held at 12 Noon Thursday, July 3, 2014 in the Chapel of J.B. Tallent Funeral Service, 1937 Sharon Amity Road, Charlotte. The family will greet friends for one hour prior to the service. The family would like to express their sincere and heartfelt gratitude to the staff of Levine and Dickson Hospice House for the exemplary and loving care given to Bill while he was a resident and in their care. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Cokesbury United Methodist Church Budget Fund or Levine and Dickson Hospice House – Southminister. J.B. Tallent Funeral Service is assisting his family.
