William Lee Gibbs, Jr., age 63, of York, died peacefully at Hospice and Community Care, Mount Joy, on Wednesday, February 8, 2023. Born in York on August 10, 1959, he was the son of the late William Lee Gibbs, Sr., and the late Roberta Star (Hunter) Gibbs.

Bill, as he was called by family and friends, was a 1977 graduate of William Penn High School and went on to graduate from The Citadel with a bachelor’s degree in business administration. Following his time at The Citadel, he joined the US Army, where he rose to the rank of Major and served his country all over the world and was a Veteran of the Gulf War.

Bill was a huge Raiders fan and enjoyed watching the Nittany Lions. He also enjoyed the arts, theater, country music and classic 80’s music. He loved to watch 007 (his inspiration for joining the military) and The Duke, John Wayne. Bill’s main love in life was making his children happy.
