William Joseph “Bill” Carter, of Jacksonville, Fla., passed away on May 28, 2022. He was born in Stockton, CA on June 6, 1932 to the late William Forest and Alice Carter.
After attending Chicora High School in Charleston, SC he joined the United States Air Force and was an Airman First Class stationed in Freising, Germany for 4 years. After his honorable discharge he graduated from The Citadel Military College, Charleston SC. He worked for the Hartford Insurance Group as an auditor for 35 years. He was a faithful member of Lakewood United Methodist Church.
He is preceded in death by his parents, his wife Laurie White Carter and sister Betty Carter Scott.
He is survived by daughter Julie Carter Beksinski and her husband John Beksinski; brothers Edward Carter and Jimmy Carter; and grandchildren Matthew Beksinski and Michael Beksinski.
A celebration of life service will be held on Friday June 17, 2022 at 11 am at Lakewood United Methodist Church.
In lieu of flowers, the family invites you to consider memorial donations to the American Cancer Society or Lakewood United Methodist Church.
