William Henry Philbrick, 53, of Macon, GA, passed away on Monday, February 13, 2017. Memorial services will be held at 2:00PM on Thursday, February 16, 2017 in the chapel of Hart’s at the Cupola, 6324 Peake Road, with Pastor Cory Maurer officiating. Family will greet friends following the service. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to, Tragedy Assistance Program for Survivors (TAPS) at www.taps.org. TAPS is a U.S. non-profit organization that provides care and support to families and friends grieving the loss of a member of the armed forces.
Mr. Philbrick was a 1985 graduate of the Citadel. Following commissioning as a Second Lieutenant, he served our country for 20 years as a United States Army Officer, retiring as a Lieutenant Colonel. In Desert Storm, Mr. Philbrick was a Signal Corps Officer. His career culminated as Director of Information Management U.S.M.A. at West Point. After retiring from the Army, he worked for Cisco Systems. He enjoyed wrestling, hunting, boating and fishing. He loved the water, his family, and his dog Jersey.
Mr. Philbrick was predeceased by his dad, Walter William Philbrick. He is survived by his wife, Kelly Dare Grant Philbrick of Macon; son, Thomas William Philbrick of Macon; daughter, Leigh Anne Philbrick of Lynchburg, Virginia; mother, Georgea Philbrick Dunn of Macon; two sisters, Elizebeth Philbrick Dear (Sandy Schamach) of Egg Harbor Township, New Jersey, and Meg Philbrick Hartley (Chuck Hartley) of Aldie, Virginia; and eight nieces and nephews, Ryan Dear, Kristin Lewis, Jamie Pomaro, C.J. Mazur, Joe Hartley, Courtney Grant, Brittany Grant, and Mishay Bingham.
