ROCK HILL — Mr. William Harris Grier Jr., 73, of Meadowbrook Lane died Friday, Oct. 27, 2006, at Eden Gardens. A memorial service will be 2 p.m. Monday at Oakland Avenue Presbyterian Church, with Dr. Joe Brooks officiating and Dr. William Pender and the Rev. Mike Sorrell assisting. Burial will be at 1:30 p.m. at Laurelwood Cemetery. Mr. Grier was a son of the late William Harris Grier Sr. and Lila Atkinson Grier. He graduated in 1951 from Winthrop Training School and earned a bachelor’s degree from The Citadel in 1955 and a master’s degree from Columbia University School of Business in 1959. He was a U.S. Army veteran and was former vice president/general manager of Rock Hill Printing & Finishing Co. and Lyman Printing & Finishing. He was a member of the Red Cross board, United Way board, Rock Hill Country Club board, Vocational Rehab board, the Museum of York County board, First Federal board of directors, S.C. Federal Bank board, SCTMA Legislative Committee and the Rock Hill Elks. He was a member of Oakland Avenue Presbyterian Church, where he was a deacon. Surviving are his wife, Jo Farmer Grier; two sons, William H. Grier III of Rock Hill and Robert Grier of Charlotte; two daughters, Kathy Grier and Lisa Grier Knight, both of Rock Hill; his brother, the Honorable John Buford Grier of Rock Hill; and eight grandchildren. The family will receive friends from 3 to 5 p.m. today at Greene Funeral Home Northwest Chapel and other times at home.
